'relationships'

I found this wonderful reading because I have suffered at the hands of this strange breed of creatures (I won't call them humans-) who are titled 'relationship managers' in smart banks nowadays. I hope my readers will be forewarned. 'Relationships' mustn't be cheapened. The word is sacred...

Sir,
Many a times, we, as customers, too take undue advantage by saying- "Apnader dokaner sathe ki ajker samparka, arektu discount din na." .
With regards,
Saikat

Very recently, perplexed on seeing that a check of a significant amount hadn't been deposited into my account even after a good 20 odd days, I called one so called 'Personal Banker' asking for an explanation. Treating my problem in a most cavalier fashion wasn't enough for her and she signed off by asking - "Where did you get my number from?" as if I was some kind of a stalker bent on harassing her. I was not offended by the innuendo (I have started to accept these things much more easily now) although I did not take it lightly and proceeded at once to the bank. I searched her out from among a horde of personal bankers, happily chatting away and playing a video game on her mobile. I curtly reminded her that I am a 'classic customer’(and that because someone had brainwashed me into buying a policy from the bank just a couple of years ago). Things moved rapidly from here on and the problem was sorted out without further ado. All this in a bank which prides itself in customer service and work culture.

This is not the only unpleasant experience I have had with these people and I sum my experiences up thus- Once they have finished with you, once they realize that they cannot extract any more, they simply move on looking for new and healthier prey. One should steer clear as much as is possible from these creatures.
