Nobel? ha ha ha ha ha...

Barack Obama has been given the Nobel Peace Prize.

I neither can nor need to add to the humour here.

Just by the way: Gandhi wasn't good enough for the Nobel Committee. Enough said!

Sir,
I just could not believe my eyes to see that Barrack Obama receiving Noble "PEACE" prize.
I just ask myself time to time:Has the noble committee become totally lunatic?or is it the fact that they do not know the meaning of the word "Piece"?
The chairman of the committee says that since Obama had just seen a "DREAM" of establishing a peaceful world with total nuclear disarmament,he has been awarded the prize......
An American critic said:"Till today,I used to think that a person could receive only one award by speaking evasively about world piece-Miss World"
My question is-Has the prize become so cheap that a person can get it only by thinking something;that every common human being thinks of?
I do not want to underestimate Obama, but if I compare his works with that of Mother Teresa, how far has he done?

You are becoming grossly careless, Soumallya: twice in that little comment you have misspelt 'peace' (and Barack, too)!

I shan't elaborate on this Prize any more, because already tonnes of newsprint and millions of websites have said all that is to be said about it. Jean-Paul Sartre disdainfully rejected the Nobel Prize long ago, calling it a 'sack of potatoes'. Today, I am sure that all prizes in the world have become so grossly devalued that the less people talk about them the better: the Booker Prize for literature, for example, seems to be given only to those authors whom nobody reads! And as I have commented earlier, once upon a time you needed to be Ernest Hemingway to win the Pulitzer, now it's enough to be Jhumpa Lahiri. This is all of a piece with my contention that standards have fallen to rock-bottom in every field of human endeavour. Look at what was meant by 'scientist' at the start of the 20th century, and what it means now!

Respected Sir,
Till now I knew that "only Talking" can get you a Miss World title. But it has now come to the Nobel Prize too!! How very inspiring!!!

But Barack Obama needs to profess his admiration for Gandhi, though he instantly adds that even if he actually had dinner with him it wouldn't be much of a dinner because Gandhi did not eat much. And of course, his life style could not be further away from the man, the likes of whom Bernard Shaw claimed would never walk on this earth again...

Just FYI,
Gandhi was assassinated in 1948 after the nominations were filed and a few days before they were announced. In fact, there was no peace prize awarded in 1948 as the committee did not find any deserving "living" candidate.
